Bunker Quantity Surveys
During a BQS, a pre-delivery and post-delivery inspection is conducted on both the delivery and receiving vessels, Supervision is also provided to ensure representative sampling is conducted. During the BQS, the inspector also provides expeditor services to ensure bunkering is completed in the most efficient manner. If Quality verification is required, samples are sent to our laboratory in Los Angeles and Richmond, CA, for testing. All bunker fuel testing is performed in accordance with ISO 8217 specification. Our BQS capabilities are conducted by professional Bunker Surveyors, Marine Inspectors and Petroleum Inspectors.
Bunkering & Debunkering Surveys
These surveys are done to document the actual usage of bunkers, transport of bunkers and transfer of bunkers between ships.
On/Off Hire Surveys
As part of a vessel charter, this survey determines the quantity of fuel on board when the vessel is hired and when it is returned.
Bunker Quality Surveys
This survey involves drawing samples during the transfer for laboratory analysis to ensure the fuel meets international standards (e.g., ISO 8217) and contractual specifications.
ROB Surveys
ROB surveys determine the amount of fuel left on a vessel's tanks at a specific time, often for charter party agreements. While BQS ensures correct fuel delivery, ROB surveys protect against disputes by documenting the existing fuel quantity

Draft Surveys
A procedural survey used in maritime shipping to accurately determine the weight of bulk cargo loaded onto or discharged from a vessel by taking measurements of the ship's draft, water density, and onboard consumables, then applying standardized calculations to find the cargo weight. This method is essential for cargo transactions to ensure fairness and accuracy, and to defend against claims of shortage or excess in the quantity of cargo shipped.
Cargo and Damage Claim Assessments
A formal process to investigate and determine the cause, extent, and value of cargo loss or damage during transportation, leading to compensation from the carrier or insurer. It involves a physical and forensic investigation of the damaged goods, detailed documentation of all evidence, and the assessment of damages by experts like cargo adjusters or surveyors.
Vessel Condition Surveys
Comprehensive surveys to assess the structural integrity, systems, and overall condition of a vessel for buyers, sellers, or insurance purposes.
Ballast Water Reporting Surveys & Sample Collection and Testing
Mandatory survey process by which commercial vessels report information about their ballast water management to prevent the introduction of invasive aquatic species. Reporting requirements are set by international agreements and by individual countries and states. We make sure that the process is documented according to the standards maintained by the National Ballast Information Clearinghouse (NBIC) and International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Pre-purchase Inspections
Detailed inspections for prospective buyers, providing a clear and unbiased report on the vessel's value and any potential issues before the purchase is finalized.
